ロサンゼルスのとあるコリアンモーテル。
ヒットマンとしてはるばるロサンゼルスにやってきたヤクザ、二堂欽次(青木勝)とその手下たち。
だが、ある事件で、欽次は記憶喪失となり、自分が誰なのか、何のためにここにいるのかわからない．．．
ヤクザの欽次は、手下も恐れるほどの残虐非道な男だが、記憶喪失となった欽次はとてもやさしい男。欣次の夢の中での、妹・冬子(高山奈央子)との会話を聞いていると、やさしい兄の一面ももっているようである。女衒の沫冨吉(鈴木歩己）やなんでも屋のCHILL(奥田洋平)が、彼を親しげに"欽ちゃん"と呼んでいるけれど、それは"残虐非道ではない欽次"を知っているからなんでしょうね。
モーテルには暗殺の証拠を探っていた情報屋・尾灯辰弥(成清正紀)、欽次を車ではねたので捕まってしまった一般人の戸川慎一(若狭勝也)が監禁されています。記憶喪失となった欣次が、彼らと次第に心を通わせていく過程がおもしろく、アメリカに住む欣次の妹に会うため三人が手を取り合ってモーテルから脱出する決意をするくだりは、気分が高揚しました。
後半、BGMで「雨にぬれても」が流れる場面が素敵。映画の内容を知っていると、「これは結末を暗示しているのか？」と勝手に物語の展開を予想しちゃったりして、ちょっと切なくなったり。モーテルのパーティの場面のムーンライトセレナーデも、ちょっと涙をさそいますね。
「漢まつり」というので、ハードボイルドタッチの男くさいドラマを想像していましたが、終わってみればちょっと切ないファンタジー。ハードボイルドなんていうものは、弱い自分を硬い殻で覆って強がっている男を描いた世界であり、表向き男臭くても、内面は結構女々しかったりする。今回は、記憶喪失で、殻が破れて内面が表に出てしまった男の話であり、それはある意味「漢」の本質ではないかと思うです。
自分的にはとんでもなく面白かった。上半期ベスト１０に入るかも。
青山勝氏と高山奈央子嬢、素顔もなんとなく似ていて、本物の兄妹のよう(笑)。
おまけ
終演後、物販コーナーでルートビア(１００円）を購入。帰り道で飲んでみた。
薬草入りペプシみたい。パクチーみたいなもんで、好きな人は癖になるだろうなと思う。
こーゆー味だとわかって飲んでる分にはどうってことはないけれど、ビールだと思ってコイツを飲んだなら、間違いなく暴動を起すと思うぞ(笑)。
こんな飲み物を作り上げたアメリカ人の味覚はどっか変だと思った、下高井戸駅のホームでございました。
