徹底したエンタテイメントぶりに圧倒された2時間15分。
全員で歌って大団円かと思いきや、それを根底から覆すようなエンディング。発散してしまった舞台がグっと締まり、かつ深い(笑)テーマを我々に提示しているかのよう。映画「未来世紀ブラジル」のラストシーンのごとく、このエンディングの有無で、作品自体が全く別物になってしまうでしょうね。
「縛られる＝束縛・規制」の不自由さと規制があるが故の安心感や自身のアイデンティティというか、ハチャメチャななかにも意外に深いテーマがひそんでいるっぽい。
江戸時代（の真ん中らへん）を舞台に繰り広げられるドM全開な時代劇！
衣装も何もかも時代考証を無視した時代劇ではあるけれど、そんなことは全く気にならず。
花組芝居の堀越氏が主演で、ほぼ全編を歌舞伎口調で通しています。
もともと歌舞伎自体、室町時代の話も鎌倉時代の話も、すべて江戸の風俗・衣装・文化で表現するという、時代考証なんぞ端から無視している(いろんな大人の事情があったと思われるけれど)。そして奇抜な衣装、隈取等も、実生活ではあり得ないわけで、当時は、すべてがポップな存在であったにちがいありません。
だからハチャメチャな時代劇「俺を縛れ！」も、その表現方法における精神は歌舞伎と同じものを感じます。堀越氏の歌舞伎口調が妙にしっくりくるのも、そのせいではないかと。
たった一人が歌舞伎風芝居というのも、最初は、素人に無理に歌舞伎口調でセリフを言わせてもみっともないからだろう程度にしか考えていなかったのですが、切羽詰丸が、キャラ令に縛られ"裏切りキャラ"を真剣に演じるあまり、キャラと自分自身の区別がつかなくなった唯一の登場人物であるわけで、計算された演出なんでしょう。すごいすごい♪

劇中の辞世の句にあやかって、
「お尻には ちょっと厳しい 2時間余」
椅子に見合った上演時間というものがあると思います。パイプ椅子も、お尻側よりも太腿側が高くなっていると、長時間座っていても楽なんだけどなあ。
