常軌を逸した主人公(明里)が、周囲を引っ掻き回す構造はいつもながらですが、新聞店の面々もただ振り回されるだけではなく反撃に出ます。この明里と新聞店の応酬が結構面白い。
今までなら、新聞店一家を地獄に落とし、一人高笑いして幕となったでしょう。本谷作品を見るたびに「いったいこの先どうなるんだ？」というもどかしさを感じたものですが、今回は「その先」をしっかり描いてくれました。
地獄に落とされた一家と、落とした明里はどうなったか．．．
新聞店一家は何事も無かったかのように夕刊の準備をはじめます(この風景が死ぬほどおかしい)。明里はロウソク一本たったケーキを渡され一人残され、しかもロウソクに火はつかない。ロウソクすら自分の思い通りにならなくなった明里。幕。
こいつは見事なオチ。本谷おそるべし(笑)
