原作は映画「カサブランカ」。大人な雰囲気が漂うミュージカルとなっておりました。小池修一郎氏の職人技が光ります。
奥秀太郎氏の映像を使った背景が秀逸。ドイツ軍のフランス侵攻の場面では実写フィルムを効果的に使っていました。ラストの飛行場では、大道具の搭乗口に飛行機の映像が違和感なくミックス。離陸する飛行機も映像となっています。
音楽は「As Time Goes By」に当時の流行歌、新たに書き下ろした曲を加えていますが「As Time Goes By」が有名すぎるせいか、「As Time Goes By」だけが耳に残ってしまいました。これは仕方ないかもしれません。
ストーリーは映画と同じですが、展開は舞台の方が速く感じられました（宝塚的スタンダードなテンポではあるんですが）。
映画のラストシーンは、リックとルノーが並んで歩いて、フレームアウトしてThe End。宝塚版では、ルノーが去り大空リックのソロ歌で幕となります。宝塚の定番の終わり方ですが、個人的には映画の終わり方が大好きだったので、ちょっと残念。
大空祐飛、影のある男を演じさせたら宝塚一ではありますが、物憂げな風情が持ち味なタイプなので、ハンフリーボガードのハードボイルドなリックとはちょっと雰囲気が違いますね。
イルザ・野々すみ花、ぱっと見幼く見えますが、やはり演技は上手く、すぐに大人の女性に見えてくるから不思議。
ラズロ・蘭寿とむ、リック、イルザに比べると映画のイメージに一番近いかもしれません。
専科のお二人はさすがの存在感で、サムを演じる萬あきらさんは自在、フェラーリ・磯野 千尋はいかがわしさが絶妙でした。 ルノー役の北翔海莉、計算高くいやらしいおやじっぷりが見事。本舞台における最優秀助演賞は北翔だと思います。
純矢ちとせのイヴォンヌ、出番こそ少ないですが、「ラ・マルセイエーズ」合唱の場面で「フランス万歳」と叫ぶのですから、結構おいしい役ですね。
